Leliyn, better known as Edith Falls, is a stunning series of cascading waterfalls and plunge pools nestled in the northern reaches of Nitmiluk National Park, about 60 km north of Katherine. The falls are a refreshing oasis in the dry season, with clear, cool water perfect for swimming beneath the main drop or in the expansive lower pool. The surrounding escarpment and savannah woodlands offer excellent short walks and birdwatching opportunities, making it a favorite stop for travellers exploring the Top End.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 2–3 hours at Leliyn, which is enough for a swim, the short upper pools walk, and a relaxing picnic. If you want to explore more of the Nitmiluk National Park (including Katherine Gorge), plan for a half-day or combine it with a morning at the gorge. The site is best visited in the dry season (May–October) when the water is clear and the weather is comfortable for walking.
