North Haven Beach
North Haven Beach is a pristine stretch of golden sand on the northern side of the Hastings River mouth, offering a peaceful alternative to the more crowded Town Beach. With gentle waves and a laid-back vibe, it's a favourite among locals for swimming, sunbaking, and long walks. The beach backs onto a grassy reserve with picnic tables and a playground, making it ideal for families. The nearby Camden Haven River provides calm waters for kayaking and paddleboarding, while the surrounding national parks offer excellent bushwalking and wildlife spotting.
Highlights & What to See
- Swim and sunbathe on the wide, sandy beach with lifeguard patrols in summer – the gentle surf is perfect for a safe dip.
- Walk the headland to the northern breakwall for panoramic views of the coast and the chance to spot dolphins and whales (May–November).
- Picnic at the reserve with barbecues, shaded tables, and a children's playground – a great spot for a relaxed lunch.
- Explore the Camden Haven River by kayak or stand-up paddleboard, launching from the boat ramp near the beach.
