Hervey Bay is a laid-back coastal city on Queensland's Fraser Coast, known for its calm, sheltered waters and as the gateway to the world's largest sand island, K'gari (Fraser Island). With a relaxed atmosphere, excellent seafood, and a strong focus on marine conservation, it's a perfect base for whale watching, island adventures, and soaking up the sun.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Plan at least 2 to 3 days to enjoy Hervey Bay itself and take a day trip to K'gari. If you're keen on whale watching, add an extra day during the season. The pace is relaxed, so you can easily fill a long weekend with beach walks, seafood dinners, and island exploration.
