Fish Rock Cave, off the coast of South West Rocks near Port Macquarie, is one of Australia's most extraordinary underwater attractions. This sea cavern, stretching over 120 metres through a rocky island, is a mecca for divers and snorkellers seeking an otherworldly experience. The cave's two entrances create a stunning light show as sunlight filters through, illuminating the marine life within.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow a full day for this experience. Most dive operators run half-day trips from South West Rocks, including gear and guide. A single dive inside the cave lasts about 30–40 minutes, but you'll want time to explore the surrounding reef. If you're snorkelling, plan for two hours on the water. Combine with a visit to the historic gaol or a coastal walk to make the most of the area.
