Washpool National Park

Washpool National Park is a pristine wilderness of Gondwanan rainforest, dramatic gorges, and cascading waterfalls in northeastern NSW. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it's a haven for birdwatchers and hikers seeking solitude among ancient Antarctic beech trees and towering eucalypts. The park's centrepiece is the stunning Washpool Walk, which leads through cool, fern-lined gullies to the sparkling Washpool Creek.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Devote at least half a day to fully experience the park. If you're a keen walker, plan for a full day to complete the Washpool Walk and explore side trails. For campers, an overnight stay allows you to soak in the dawn chorus and evening ambience. Drive time from Port Macquarie is about 1.5 hours, so factor that into your schedule.
