Lighthouse Beach is a stunning stretch of golden sand along the New South Wales coast, just south of Port Macquarie. Its name comes from the historic Tacking Point Lighthouse perched on the headland, which has guided ships since 1879. This beach is a favourite for surfers, swimmers, and walkers, offering a classic Australian coastal experience with a touch of maritime history. The sweeping ocean views and the easygoing vibe make it a perfect stop on a drive along the Pacific Coast.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend half a day (3–4 hours) at Lighthouse Beach, which allows time for a swim, a walk to the lighthouse, and a picnic. If you plan to surf or do the longer coastal walk, allocate a full day. Early morning or late afternoon offers the best light for photography and fewer crowds.
