Straddling the New South WalesQueensland border, the Tweed Valley is a lush, subtropical paradise that feels a world away from the coast’s busy beach towns. Carved by the ancient Tweed Volcano, this fertile valley is ringed by the green caldera of Mount Warning (Wollumbin) and offers a landscape of rolling hills, banana plantations, and winding rivers. The region has a laid-back, creative energy, with a thriving food scene, boutique farms, and a strong Bundjalung cultural heritage.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Give the Tweed Valley at least two full days to soak up its relaxed rhythm. Day one: explore Murwillumbah’s markets and gallery, then head to Uki for lunch and a farm gate wander. Day two: rise early for the Mount Warning sunrise (or a lower-elevation walk if the summit is closed), then cool off at Crystal Creek or Minyon Falls. A third day lets you explore the northern reaches around Tyalgum or take a scenic drive through the caldera rim.
