Plunging nearly 300 metres into a fern-filled gorge, Wentworth Falls is one of the Blue Mountains' most dramatic waterfalls. The village itself is a quiet, leafy escape with sandstone cottages and excellent bushwalking trails. From the clifftop lookout, you'll feel the spray on your face as the water cascades over three tiers into the Jamison Valley below.
Highlights & What to See
- Wentworth Falls Lookout – An easy 10-minute walk from the car park delivers jaw-dropping views of the falls and valley.
- Princes Rock Walk – A moderate 1.5 km track that skirts the cliff edge, offering ever-changing perspectives of the waterfall and the escarpment.
- National Pass – One of the Blue Mountains' great walks, this challenging loop takes you behind the falls and along the cliff line, past ancient rock formations and pockets of rainforest.
- Conservation Hut – A historic stone building with a café and terrace overlooking the valley; a perfect pit stop before or after a hike.
- Wentworth Falls Lake – A peaceful spot for a picnic or a gentle stroll, with birdlife and a kid-friendly playground.
Suggested Time to Spend
For a quick visit, allow 1–2 hours to see the lookout and enjoy a short walk. If you're tackling National Pass or the longer trails, set aside a full day – pack sturdy shoes, water, and a camera. Many visitors combine Wentworth Falls with a morning at Echo Point (for the Three Sisters) and an afternoon in Leura village.
