Perched on a dramatic headland overlooking the Sapphire Coast, Tathra is a quintessential NSW seaside town where the wilderness of Mimosa Rocks National Park meets pristine beaches. The historic Tathra Wharf, a timber pier jutting into the Tasman Sea, is the town's soul – a perfect spot to watch whales migrate (May–November) or simply soak up the coastal panorama. With a laid-back vibe, excellent surf breaks, and a burgeoning food scene centred on local seafood, Tathra rewards those who slow down and explore.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Two to three days allows you to unwind, explore the national parks, and enjoy the local cafes. Spend the first day on the beach and wharf, the second hiking in Mimosa Rocks, and the third morning kayaking on the Bega River or visiting the nearby Tathra Market (held on the fourth Sunday of the month). If you're short on time, a solid overnight stop will cover the main sights.
