Held on the first and third Sunday of each month, the Samford Valley Markets are a beloved community institution set in the lush, rolling hills just inland from the Sunshine Coast. With a backdrop of towering fig trees and the gentle sounds of live acoustic music, these markets offer a genuine taste of local Queensland life — far from the tourist crowds.
Highlights & What to See
- Farm-fresh produce — Stallholders sell seasonal fruit and vegetables, artisan cheeses, free-range eggs, and locally roasted coffee. Grab a breakfast burrito or a fresh juice and settle in for a lazy morning.
- Handmade crafts & art — Browse an eclectic mix of original paintings, pottery, woodwork, jewellery, and handmade soaps. Many items are made by the stallholder themselves, so you can chat about the process.
- Live music & community vibe — A rotating lineup of local musicians plays everything from folk to blues on the central stage. Kids can enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, and face painting while adults relax under the shade.
- Local food stalls — Beyond the usual market fare, you'll find gourmet pies, German sausages, paella, and wood-fired pizza. Save room for the homemade cakes and gelato.
Suggested Time to Spend
Plan for 2–3 hours to fully enjoy the markets. Arrive early (by 8am) to beat the heat and crowds, and to snag the best produce. Combine your visit with a coffee at one of the nearby Samford Village cafes — a short walk away — for a perfect Sunday morning outing.
