Perched on a grassy headland just south of Byron Bay, Lennox Head is a laid-back coastal village that rewards travellers with sweeping ocean views, world-class surf breaks, and a relaxed, community-focused vibe. The centrepiece is the dramatic Lennox Headland, a rocky promontory that divides seven-mile beach from the smaller, more intimate Pat Morton Lookout. Whether you’re here to paddle out at the famous point break, explore rock pools at low tide, or simply watch the sun sink into the Pacific, Lennox Head offers a quintessential Northern Rivers experience without the crowds of its more famous neighbour.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Lennox Head is compact enough to explore in a day, but its mellow pace invites a longer stay. Plan for at least a half-day to walk the headland, paddle in Lake Ainsworth, and enjoy a coffee at one of the village cafes. If you’re a surfer or want to fully unwind, book two nights and spend a full day on the beach, then explore the nearby hinterland on day two. The village is small, so you can easily combine it with a sunrise walk and a late afternoon session at the point.
