The Rocks

Hugging the northern edge of Sydney's Circular Quay, The Rocks is where the city's convict story began. Cobblestone lanes wind between sandstone warehouses turned into galleries, pubs, and boutiques, while the Sydney Harbour Bridge looms overhead. It's a place where you can touch 19th-century bricks, hear tales of rum and rebellion, and then sip a craft beer with a harbour view.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Half a day is enough to wander the main laneways, pop into the Discovery Museum, and have lunch at a historic pub. If you also want to join a guided walking tour (highly recommended for the convict tales), do the morning Rocks Walking Tour and then explore at your own pace in the afternoon. Combine with a visit to Circular Quay and the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb for a full day.
