Prince Henry Cliff Walk
Perched on the edge of the Jamison Valley, the Prince Henry Cliff Walk is one of the Blue Mountains' most spectacular short walks, offering uninterrupted views of the Three Sisters, Mount Solitary, and the forested gorge below. This 7-kilometre track between Leura and Katoomba is a classic for first-time visitors and bushwalkers alike, combining easy graded paths with jaw-dropping lookouts.
Highlights & What to See
- Echo Point Lookout – the iconic vantage point for the Three Sisters; arrive early to avoid crowds and catch the morning light on the sandstone pillars.
- Katoomba Cascades – a series of small waterfalls and pools just off the walk, especially dramatic after rain.
- Leura Cascades – a lush, fern-lined section with a gentle waterfall and picnic area, perfect for a rest stop.
- Gordon Falls Lookout – a quieter viewpoint with sweeping valley vistas and a glimpse of the historic Gordon Falls.
- Sublime Point Lookout – a short detour from the walk offers a 180-degree panorama of the Blue Mountains escarpment.
- Birdwatching – keep an eye out for lyrebirds, crimson rosellas, and yellow-tailed black cockatoos in the eucalypt forest.
Suggested Time to Spend
Allow 2–3 hours to walk the full 7 km one-way from Leura to Katoomba, or about 4–5 hours return with stops for photos and picnics. Most walkers prefer to start at Leura and finish at Echo Point, catching a bus or taxi back. For a shorter experience, do the 2 km section between Leura Cascades and Gordon Falls in 45 minutes. The track is well-maintained and suitable for most fitness levels, though there are some steps and uneven sections.
Nearby Areas Worth Combining
