Bridal Veil Falls
Bridal Veil Falls is one of the Blue Mountains' most graceful waterfalls, plunging over 50 metres into a deep valley near Govetts Leap. Unlike the more famous Wentworth Falls, this cascade is often quieter, offering a serene spot for a picnic or short walk. The falls are especially dramatic after rain, when the water billows like a bridal veil.
Highlights & What to See
- Govetts Leap Lookout – The classic vantage point for Bridal Veil Falls, with sweeping views across the Grose Valley. Arrive early for soft morning light.
- Bridal Veil Falls Walking Track – A short, steep 1.5 km return trail that descends to a platform near the base of the falls. Great for feeling the spray on warm days.
- Pulpit Rock Lookout – A side trip along the cliff edge, offering a different perspective of the falls and the valley below.
- Wildflowers & Birdlife – In spring, the track is lined with waratahs and boronia; keep an eye out for lyrebirds and crimson rosellas.
Suggested Time to Spend
Allow 1–2 hours for a focused visit: 30 minutes at Govetts Leap Lookout, then an hour for the walk down to the falls platform and back. If you add Pulpit Rock Lookout, budget another 30 minutes. Combine with a morning at Blackheath's cafés for a half-day outing.
