Twelve Apostles

Rising like ancient sentinels from the churning Southern Ocean, the Twelve Apostles are the undisputed stars of Victoria's Great Ocean Road. These limestone stacks, carved by relentless wind and waves, glow in shades of ochre and gold at sunrise and sunset, offering one of Australia's most photographed vistas. While only seven remain standing, their dramatic scale and the thunderous surf create an unforgettable encounter with raw coastal power.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours at the main viewing platform and nearby lookouts. To truly soak in the atmosphere, plan for sunset and add an hour to explore Loch Ard Gorge and the Gibson Steps. If you're driving the Great Ocean Road, this is a natural stop of 2–3 hours, but the Apostles are also worth a dedicated half-day trip from the Twelve Apostles or Port Campbell.
