Perched high in the Pilbara, Tom Price is a frontier town built on iron ore, surrounded by ochre-red ranges and deep gorges. It’s the gateway to Karijini National Park and offers a genuine outback experience with a strong mining heritage, stunning sunsets, and a surprising café culture that thrives against the red dust.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most travellers base themselves in Tom Price for 2–3 days to explore Karijini National Park thoroughly. Spend one day on the park’s gorges (start early to beat the heat), another on Mount Nameless and the mine lookout, and a third for a more relaxed visit to Hamersley Gorge or a cultural tour. If you’re short on time, a single full day can cover the mine lookout and a few Karijini highlights, but you’ll wish you had longer.
