Carved into the dramatic southern coastline of Algarve, the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail (Percurso dos Sete Vales Suspensos) is one of Portugal's most spectacular coastal hikes. This 6-kilometre (one-way) trail winds along towering ochre cliffs, offering jaw-dropping views of sea arches, hidden coves, and the famous Benagil Sea Cave. It’s a must-do for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone craving an unforgettable coastal walk.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow a half-day for the full experience. The one-way walk takes about 2–3 hours at a leisurely pace, including stops for photos. Many walkers start at Praia da Marinha, hike to Benagil, and then return via the same route (total 12 km) or arrange a transfer back. For a more relaxed outing, combine the walk with a kayak tour into the Benagil Cave, adding another hour. Early morning or late afternoon offers the best light and fewer crowds.
