Schilthorn
Rising dramatically above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, Schilthorn is a peak that delivers one of Switzerland's most unforgettable alpine experiences. Made famous by the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, this 2,970-metre summit offers jaw-dropping 360-degree views of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The journey up via cable car from Stechelberg is an adventure in itself, passing through Mürren and Birg before reaching the top. At the summit, the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant spins slowly while you dine, and the interactive Bond World 007 exhibition adds a dose of cinematic fun. For hikers and nature lovers, the surrounding trails offer pristine alpine scenery and encounters with marmots and ibex.

Suggested Time to Spend
Allocate at least half a day for a Schilthorn visit. Most travellers combine the cable car ride with 2–3 hours at the summit for the exhibition, lunch, and photos. If you wish to hike, plan for a full day – for instance, take the cable car up early, explore the summit, then hike down to Mürren (about 3–4 hours) and catch the train back. Winter visitors might spend the entire day skiing on the surrounding slopes.
