Peak Tram & Victoria Peak

Rising sharply from the heart of Hong Kong Island, the Peak Tram is a funicular railway that has been hauling passengers up to Victoria Peak since 1888. The journey itself is a thrill—a steep, 7-minute ascent through dense subtropical forest, with the city's skyscrapers tilting away beneath you. At the top, Victoria Peak (aka The Peak) offers arguably the world's most famous skyline view, a sweeping panorama of Victoria Harbour, Kowloon, and the outlying islands. This is a quintessential Hong Kong experience, blending history, nature, and jaw-dropping urban vistas.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Dedicate at least half a day to fully appreciate the Peak. Arrive mid-afternoon to ride the tram, walk the Circle Walk, and then settle in for sunset drinks at one of the Peak's restaurants or bars. If you're short on time, a 2-hour visit is enough for the tram ride and a quick look from Sky Terrace 428, but you'll miss the magical dusk transformation. The tram queues can be long (especially weekends), so consider buying a return ticket online in advance or taking a taxi up and the tram down.
