Palmas

Palmas is a small, unassuming locality in the New South Wales Northern Rivers region, offering a quiet escape into lush hinterland scenery. While it lacks major tourist infrastructure, its appeal lies in the surrounding natural beauty, with rolling green hills, pockets of subtropical rainforest, and a handful of historic farmsteads. It's a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and explore the countryside on foot or by car.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Palmas itself is a brief stop — plan for 1–2 hours to soak in the views and snap photos. However, to fully appreciate the area, combine it with a half-day exploring Nightcap National Park and the Minyon Falls walk. If you're based in the Byron Bay hinterland, you can easily loop Palmas into a day trip from Uki, Murwillumbah, or Nimbin.
