Jutting dramatically into the Atlantic like a clenched fist, the Old Head of Kinsale is one of Ireland's most iconic promontories. This narrow finger of land, with its sheer cliffs and panoramic ocean views, is crowned by a historic lighthouse and a memorial to the sinking of the RMS Lusitania. The drive out to the headland is a scenic treat in itself, winding through lush countryside before the sea appears in a breathtaking reveal.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allocate 1–2 hours to explore the headland, including the memorial and a leisurely walk. Combine it with a half-day in Kinsale itself for lunch and a stroll through the colourful streets. If you're a keen photographer or walker, you could easily linger longer.
