Mon Repos, on the coast just east of Bundaberg, is one of Australia’s most important sea turtle rookeries. From November to March each year, loggerhead, flatback, green and occasionally hawksbill turtles lumber ashore to lay eggs under the cover of darkness. The guided night tours are an unforgettable wildlife experience, and the adjacent Mon Repos Conservation Park offers coastal walks and a pristine beach for daytime exploration.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Plan for at least 3–4 hours if you're doing a turtle tour (arrive 1 hour before the tour starts to visit the centre). Daytime visits for the beach and walk need only 1–2 hours. The turtle tours run every evening during the season, so you can easily combine Mon Repos with a day exploring Bundaberg or the Southern Great Barrier Reef islands.
