Medina Sidonia

Perched on a hilltop in the province of Cádiz, Medina Sidonia is one of Spain's oldest towns, a whitewashed labyrinth of narrow streets and Moorish heritage. Known as the 'City of the Sun' and a key stop on the Route of the White Villages (Pueblos Blancos), it offers sweeping views of the Atlantic and the surrounding countryside. This is a place to wander without a map, discover hidden plazas, and taste the famous alfajor (a traditional almond and honey sweet).

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Half a day is sufficient to explore the old town's key sights and soak up the atmosphere. Arrive early to avoid the heat and the midday crowds, then enjoy a leisurely lunch at a plaza-side restaurant. If you're passionate about history or photography, allow a full day to also hike the surrounding hills or visit the nearby archaeological sites.
