Formed by Burrinjuck Dam, this serene spot is a haven for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers, offering a peaceful escape from the capital's bustle. The surrounding hills are clad in eucalypt forest, and the lake's deep blue waters are perfect for a day on the water or a quiet picnic with a view.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Lake Burrinjuck makes an excellent day trip from Canberra or Yass. Arrive by mid-morning to make the most of the water – a few hours of boating or fishing, followed by a barbecue lunch at one of the picnic shelters. If you have a campervan, consider staying overnight at the lake's caravan park to enjoy a sunset paddle and a star-filled sky. Two days would allow for a more relaxed pace, with time for both water activities and a bushwalk.
