Ingham is a laid-back sugar-town in North Queensland, cradled by lush cane fields and the towering peaks of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. With a strong Italian-Australian heritage, it offers a slice of authentic regional life, fantastic waterfalls, and a gateway to the rugged national parks of the Hinchinbrook region. The town’s main drag, Lannercost Street, is lined with historic pubs and bakeries, while the nearby national parks promise some of the best swimming and hiking in the north.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Two days is ideal: spend one day exploring Wallaman Falls and the Tyto Wetlands, and a second day heading to Lucinda and Broadwater Falls. If you’re hiking the Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island, Ingham is the perfect overnight stop before or after the trek.
