Avenue of Stars
Stroll along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront on the Avenue of Stars, Hong Kong’s answer to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This palm-lined promenade pays tribute to the city’s golden age of cinema, with handprints and statues of legends like Bruce Lee and Anita Mui. The backdrop of Victoria Harbour and the soaring Hong Kong Island skyline makes it a magnet for photographers and film buffs alike. By day, the harbour breeze is refreshing; by night, the Symphony of Lights show transforms the scene into a glittering spectacle.
Highlights & What to See
- Bruce Lee Statue – A 2.5-metre bronze figure in his iconic fighting pose, the most photographed spot on the promenade.
- Handprints of Celebrities – Over 100 plaques embedded in the railing, featuring the handprints of stars like Jackie Chan and Jet Li.
- Victoria Harbour Panorama – Uninterrupted views of the Hong Kong Island skyline, including the Bank of China Tower and the ICC.
- Symphony of Lights – The nightly multimedia show (8pm) that choreographs lasers and lights across 40 buildings, best watched from here.
- Avenue of Stars Gallery – A small exhibition space with memorabilia and rotating displays on Hong Kong cinema.
Suggested Time to Spend
Give yourself 45 minutes to an hour to walk the entire promenade and snap photos. If you plan to watch the Symphony of Lights, arrive by 7:30pm to secure a good spot along the railing. The Avenue is at its most atmospheric in the early evening, when the harbour breezes cool the city and the skyline begins to twinkle. Combine it with a meal at one of the nearby Tsim Sha Tsui restaurants for a full evening out.
