Stretching from the southern shores of Batemans Bay down to the edge of Narooma, the Eurobodalla Nature Coast is a 110-kilometre ribbon of pristine coastline, state forests, and tranquil estuaries. This is the New South Wales south coast at its most unhurried: think empty surf breaks, oyster leases glinting in the sun, and walking trails that wind through spotted gum forests to hidden coves. It’s a region that rewards those who slow down, whether you’re paddling a kayak through the Clyde River estuary, tasting freshly shucked oysters at a waterside shack, or simply watching the sunset paint the granite boulders of Murramarang National Park.
Highlights & What to See
- Murramarang National Park – A coastal gem with dramatic sea cliffs, secluded beaches like Pebbly Beach (famous for its resident eastern grey kangaroos), and the 8km Durras Mountain walk offering panoramic ocean views.
- Batemans Bay – The region’s lively hub; stroll the boardwalk, visit the Saturday markets, and join a guided oyster tasting tour on the Clyde River.
- Mogo – A historic gold-mining village turned artisan enclave, home to the excellent Mogo Wildlife Park and quirky galleries housed in 19th-century buildings.
- Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden – A peaceful 42-hectare sanctuary showcasing local flora, with walking trails through rainforest, heath, and eucalypt forest.
- Narooma – The southern gateway, where you can spot seals and dolphins on a boat tour to Montague Island, or walk the striking Narooma Bridge for views of the oyster-rich Wagonga Inlet.
- Oyster Coast – The Clyde River and Wagonga Inlet produce some of Australia’s finest Sydney rock oysters. Do a self-drive oyster trail, stopping at roadside shacks and farm gates.
Suggested Time to Spend
To properly experience the Eurobodalla Nature Coast, allow at least three to four days. This gives you time to explore Batemans Bay and its national park, detour to Mogo, and continue south to Narooma. For a more relaxed pace, base yourself in a beachside town like Broulee or Tuross Head for a week, mixing beach days with bushwalks and kayaking. The region is ideal for a self-drive leg between Sydney and Melbourne (the Princes Highway runs through it) or as a standalone coastal escape.
Nearby Areas Worth Combining
