Step into Cáceres Old Town and you’ll feel as though you’ve wandered onto a film set for a medieval drama. This UNESCO World Heritage site in Spain’s Extremadura region is one of Europe’s best-preserved historic centres, where Roman, Moorish, and Gothic architecture stand shoulder to shoulder. Narrow cobbled lanes open onto sun-drenched plazas, and stone towers rise above the skyline. It’s a place where history is tangible – and surprisingly uncrowded compared to Spain’s better-known old towns.
