On the northern banks of the Parramatta River, Cabarita is a leafy riverside suburb that feels a world away from Sydney’s CBD, yet is only 15 km west of the city. Its name derives from an Aboriginal word for ‘by the water’, and with a long, grassy foreshore park, a historic ferry wharf and a relaxed local café culture, it’s a perfect spot for a peaceful escape or a stop on a river-centric itinerary.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Cabarita is a half-day destination. Arrive by ferry for a scenic trip, spend a couple of hours exploring the park, enjoying a coffee and walking the foreshore, then head back. If you’re self-driving, combine it with a visit to nearby suburbs along the river – you could easily spend two to three hours here, including a leisurely lunch.
