Brijuni National Park is a stunning archipelago of 14 islands off the Istrian coast, renowned for its turquoise waters, lush Mediterranean vegetation, and fascinating layers of history. Once a summer retreat for Yugoslav president Tito, the islands now offer a unique blend of natural beauty, ancient Roman ruins, and a safari park with exotic animals. Accessible by regular ferry from Fažana, Brijuni is a perfect day trip for nature lovers and history buffs alike.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a full day (8–10 hours) on the main island, Veliki Brijun. This allows time to explore the safari park, archaeological sites, and museum, plus enjoy a relaxed lunch and a swim. If you’re short on time, a half-day (4–5 hours) is enough to see the key highlights by taking the guided tour that covers the Roman ruins and Tito’s villa. Combine the park with a morning in Fažana or a sunset in Pula for a rewarding Istrian day.
