Perched on the edge of the Mount William Range, Boroka Lookout delivers one of the Grampians' most iconic panoramas. From this easy-to-reach platform, you're treated to a breathtaking sweep across Halls Gap, Lake Bellfield, and the serrated peaks of the Wonderland Range. It's a sunrise favourite for photographers and a perfect introduction to the raw beauty of Gariwerd (the Grampians).
Highlights & What to See
- Sunrise spectacle: Watch the sun ignite the sandstone cliffs and flood the valley with golden light – arrive early to secure a spot.
- Lake Bellfield views: The lookout frames the lake perfectly, often mirroring the sky and mountains in its still waters.
- Wildlife spotting: Keep an eye out for wedge-tailed eagles soaring on thermals and kangaroos grazing in the valley below.
- Easy access: A short, sealed walk from the car park makes this viewpoint suitable for most fitness levels and families.
- Photography opportunities: The changing light throughout the day offers endless compositions, from misty mornings to fiery sunsets.
Suggested Time to Spend
Allocate 30 minutes to an hour to fully soak in the views and take photos. Many visitors combine a sunrise visit here with a morning walk on the nearby Wonderland Loop or a drive to the Balconies and Mackenzie Falls. If you're pressed for time, even a 15-minute stop is worthwhile – just don't rush past the interpretive signs that explain the Aboriginal significance of Gariwerd.
