Just a 90-minute drive north of Perth, Avon Valley National Park is a rugged bushland escape where the Avon River cuts through ancient granite and laterite formations. Come spring, the park erupts in a carpet of wildflowers, while year-round it offers peaceful walks, birdwatching, and a genuine sense of isolation. It's a favorite for self-drive day-trippers and those exploring the Avon Valley or heading to the nearby town of Toodyay.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend half a day exploring the park – enough for a couple of short walks, a picnic, and some wildlife spotting. If you're keen on a longer hike or want to linger for wildflower photography, plan for a full day. The park is best visited between May and October when temperatures are mild; summer days can be scorching, so start early.
