Apollo Bay

Apollo Bay is a laid-back coastal town on the Great Ocean Road, cradled by the Otway Ranges and the Southern Ocean. It's the perfect base for exploring the wild beaches, ancient rainforests, and the iconic Twelve Apostles further west. With a lively fishing harbour, a string of excellent cafes, and a slow, salty rhythm, Apollo Bay feels like a genuine seaside escape rather than a tourist trap.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Apollo Bay works wonderfully as a two-night stop on a Great Ocean Road itinerary. Spend one day exploring the Otway rainforests and waterfalls, and another on the coast – either relaxing on the beach, taking a wildlife cruise, or driving west to the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. If you're short on time, even a single overnight break allows for a sunset walk on the beach and a morning in the national park.
