Berridale is a small, unpretentious village in the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales, just a short drive from the ski fields of Thredbo and Perisher. With a population of around 1,200, it offers a genuine slice of alpine life without the resort crowds. The main street is dotted with historic buildings, a handful of cafes, and a famous pie shop that draws travellers from miles around. For self-drive adventurers, Berridale is an ideal base for exploring the Kosciuszko National Park, with its wildflower-strewn plains in summer and snow-covered peaks in winter.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most travellers use Berridale as a stopover or base for 2–4 days. If you’re passing through on the way to the ski resorts, an hour is enough for a pie and a quick walk. For a proper stay, allow a full day to explore the national park and another to relax by the lake or visit nearby wineries. Winter visitors often base themselves here for a week, as accommodation is more affordable than in Thredbo or Perisher.
