AFL Grand Final Friday is a public holiday in Victoria observed on the Friday before the Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Introduced in 2015 to replace the Melbourne Show public holiday, it gives Melburnians a long weekend to prepare for and celebrate one of Australia's most-watched sporting events. The date changes each year depending on the AFL finals schedule.
