To fully experience the route, allocate at least 3–4 days. Start in Ballarat and spend a day exploring Sovereign Hill and the city. Drive to Castlemaine and Maldon on day two, enjoying the heritage and short walks. Day three could take you to Bendigo and Daylesford, and if you have a fourth day, head to the Grampians for hiking. The route is around 350 km in total, so you can easily extend with stops at smaller towns like Clunes or Avoca.
