Paraburdoo is a remote mining town in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, cradled by rugged red ranges and endless blue skies. It’s a gateway to some of the state’s most ancient landscapes, where billion-year-old rock formations and deep gorges offer a raw, humbling beauty. While the town itself is small and functional, its surroundings are pure adventure – think scenic flights over Karijini National Park, 4WD tracks to hidden waterholes, and star-drenched campsites far from city lights.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most travellers use Paraburdoo as a base for 2–4 days. With one full day you can explore Karijini’s main gorges; add a second day for a hike up Mount Bruce or a scenic flight over the national park. If you have more time, venture to Millstream Chichester or drive the scenic route to Tom Price. The dry season (April–October) offers the best conditions for hiking and 4WD tracks.
