Cable Beach, a 22-kilometre stretch of white sand along the Indian Ocean near Broome, is a quintessential Kimberley experience. Known for its spectacular sunsets, turquoise waters, and the iconic camel trains that amble along the shore, this beach blends natural beauty with a laid-back tropical vibe. The fine sand and warm, safe swimming conditions make it a favourite for families, while the dramatic red cliffs at the southern end offer a striking contrast to the clear water.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a full day at Cable Beach – morning for swimming and exploring rock pools, then stay for sunset. If you want to include a camel ride and a meal at the Sunset Bar, plan for at least 4–5 hours. For a relaxed pace, allow two half-days: one for the beach and one for Gantheaume Point and Broome town.
