Just 4km north of Alice Springs, the Telegraph Station is the birthplace of the town itself. This historic reserve preserves the stone buildings of the original Overland Telegraph Line, which linked Australia to the rest of the world in 1872. Wander through the restored stationmaster's residence, telegraph office and blacksmith's workshop, all set against a backdrop of rugged MacDonnell Ranges.
