Corroboree Rock Conservation Area, just a 20-minute drive east of Alice Springs, is a striking dolomite outcrop that rises from the desert plains like a weathered sentinel. This small but culturally significant site is named after the Eastern Arrernte word for a ceremonial gathering, and it remains a place of deep spiritual importance. For travellers, it offers a quick yet evocative taste of the MacDonnell Ranges’ ancient geology and a chance to walk among ghost gums and spinifex in near solitude.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 30–45 minutes here – enough to walk the loop, read the signs and soak up the stillness. It’s an ideal quick stop on a half-day eastward drive from Alice Springs. For a more relaxed visit, bring a picnic and sit in the shade of a ghost gum, watching the light shift across the rock. Pair it with a visit to Emily Gap (10 minutes west) to make a leisurely morning or afternoon outing.
