Plunging 81 metres into a forested gorge, Fitzroy Falls is the star of Morton National Park in the Southern Highlands. The viewing platform delivers a front-row seat to the powerful cascade, while the surrounding escarpment walks offer sweeping views over wild bushland. It’s a classic New South Wales nature stop that rewards with dramatic scenery and a chance to spot lyrebirds and wallabies.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours at Fitzroy Falls: 30 minutes at the main lookout and another 30–60 minutes on the West Rim or Twilight Falls walk. If you’re a keen hiker, allow half a day to explore longer trails like the 10 km East Rim Track. Aim for late afternoon when the light softens and the crowds thin out.
