Mon Repos Turtle Centre, on the coast near Bundaberg, is one of Australia's most significant marine turtle rookeries. Each year between November and March, endangered loggerhead turtles (and occasionally green and flatback turtles) haul themselves ashore to nest, and later the hatchlings scramble to the sea. The centre offers an immersive, educational experience that combines conservation, Indigenous storytelling, and up-close wildlife encounters under the stars.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Plan for a full evening (around 3–4 hours) for the turtle tour, which includes a briefing, beach walk, and observation time. Arrive an hour early to explore the interpretive centre. If you're not visiting during nesting season, the centre itself is worth 1–2 hours. Combine with a day trip to Bundaberg or the nearby coastal towns.
