Mollymook Beach is a stunning crescent of golden sand on the New South Wales South Coast, about 30 kilometres south of Ulladulla. With its gentle waves and patrolled swimming areas, it's a perfect family-friendly escape that also draws surfers and beachcombers. The beach is framed by lush headlands and offers a relaxed coastal vibe, with a handful of excellent cafés and a renowned golf course just inland.
Highlights & What to See
- Mollymook Beach itself – a long, wide stretch of sand ideal for swimming, sunbaking, and long walks. The northern end is patrolled in summer and has a gentle shore break.
- Surfing at the southern end – consistent waves attract surfers, especially near the rocks at the south end. The break can get crowded on good days.
- Mollymook Golf Club – a scenic 18-hole course with ocean views, known for its challenging layout and relaxed clubhouse. Non-members are welcome.
- Rick Stein at Bannisters – the famous chef’s seafood restaurant at Bannisters Pavilion, offering fresh local produce with a view over the beach. Book ahead.
- Nearby Bannisters Point – a short walk south along the coastal path leads to a rocky headland with panoramic views and a popular whale-watching spot during migration season.
Suggested Time to Spend
Most visitors find a full day at Mollymook Beach is ideal. Spend the morning swimming or surfing, enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the beachside cafés or Rick Stein’s, and then take a coastal walk to Bannisters Point in the afternoon. If you’re staying locally, a half-day is enough to soak up the atmosphere, but you’ll likely want to linger longer.
