Stretching six kilometres along Sydney’s eastern seaboard, the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk is one of the city’s most iconic urban trails. This clifftop path links a string of spectacular beaches, rugged rock pools, and grassy headlands, offering non-stop ocean views and a quintessential Sydney experience. Whether you’re a dedicated hiker or a casual stroller, the walk delivers a perfect blend of coastal scenery, beach culture, and fresh sea air.
Highlights & What to See
- Bondi Beach: Start at Australia’s most famous beach, where golden sand meets the Pacific. Watch surfers ride the waves and soak up the vibrant café scene before you set off.
- Tamarama Beach: Known as ‘Glamarama’, this small, picturesque beach is a favourite with locals. Its sheltered cove is perfect for a quick dip.
- Bronte Beach: A family-friendly spot with a large ocean pool, parklands, and a relaxed vibe. Grab a coffee from one of the beachside cafés.
- Clovelly Beach: A narrow, sheltered bay ideal for snorkelling. The calm waters and concrete platforms make it a unique swimming spot.
- Gordon’s Bay: This hidden gem between Clovelly and Coogee is a marine reserve with excellent snorkelling and a small, quiet beach.
- Coogee Beach: The walk’s end point, Coogee is a lively beach with a promenade, ocean pools, and plenty of pubs and restaurants for a well-earned meal.
Suggested Time to Spend
Allow 2 to 3 hours for the walk itself, depending on your pace and how often you stop for photos or a swim. Many visitors take a full morning or afternoon, lingering at each beach for a coffee or a dip. The path is well-maintained and mostly flat, making it accessible for most fitness levels. If you’re short on time, you can easily do the walk in one direction and catch a bus back to your starting point.
