Sandwiched between the famous Bondi and Bronte beaches, Tamarama – affectionately nicknamed 'Glamarama' by locals – is a compact, sun-drenched crescent of golden sand that packs a serious punch. With its dramatic rock formations, consistent surf breaks, and a fiercely loyal crew of regulars, this is the beach for those who prefer their coastal experience with a side of cool, understated style. The parkland above offers prime whale-watching vantage points during migration season (May–November), and the adjacent Tamarama Marine Reserve is a snorkeller’s delight.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours here as part of a coastal walk or a morning at the beach. If you’re planning to swim, surf or snorkel, allow a half-day – the beach faces north-east, so it’s at its best in the morning before the sea breeze kicks up. Combine it with Bondi (15 minutes’ walk north) and Bronte (10 minutes south) for a full day of sand, surf and seaside dining.
