Maitland Bay is a secluded, picturesque pocket of the Bouddi National Park on the Central Coast, a short drive north of Sydney. The bay is famed for its crystal-clear waters, white sand, and the haunting wreck of the SS Maitland, which ran aground in 1898. It’s a haven for bushwalkers, snorkellers, and anyone craving a peaceful coastal escape without the crowds.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend half a day: combine the 3.5 km return walk from the main car park to the beach with snorkelling and a picnic. For the full Bouddi Coastal Walk, allow 4–5 hours one way (with a car shuffle or bus return). If you’re keen on photography or just relaxing, a full afternoon is perfect.
