Perched on a leafy ridge overlooking the glittering waters of Bouddi National Park, Killcare Heights is a serene coastal escape just an hour north of Sydney. This quiet suburb of the Central Coast is all about bush-meets-beach living, with dramatic ocean views, secluded coves, and a laid-back vibe that feels a world away from the city. Whether you're here for a coastal walk, a swim in a rock pool, or simply to soak up the scenery from a clifftop lookout, Killcare Heights rewards those who take it slow.
Highlights & What to See
- Bouddi National Park Coastal Walk – This spectacular 8.5 km one-way track between Putty Beach and MacMasters Beach is the star attraction, offering jaw-dropping views of sandstone cliffs, secluded beaches, and the Tasman Sea. Allow 3–4 hours for the full walk, or do shorter sections from Killcare Beach.
- Killcare Beach – A calm, protected beach perfect for swimming and picnicking. At low tide, explore the rock platforms and the historic Killcare Surf Life Saving Club.
- Putty Beach – A patrolled beach with a grassy picnic area and the start of the Bouddi Coastal Walk. It’s also a popular spot for kayaking and paddleboarding.
- Bouddi National Park Lookouts – Gerrin Point Lookout and Maitland Bay Lookout offer panoramic views over the park and are easily accessible by car with a short walk.
- Hardys Bay – A charming waterfront village with a general store, café, and boat ramp. It’s a great place to grab a coffee and watch the yachts come and go.
