Sai Kung East Country Park

Sai Kung East Country Park is a rugged coastal wilderness on Hong Kong's eastern flank, where emerald hills plunge into azure sea. This is hiking paradise: dramatic sea cliffs, hidden beaches, and the UNESCO Global Geopark's volcanic rock formations. Expect few crowds and a real sense of escape — just you, the wind, and the South China Sea.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors base themselves in Sai Kung town and day-hike into the park. For a proper taste, dedicate at least a full day — take an early bus to Pak Tam Au, hike the MacLehose Trail to the coast, and return via a kaito (ferry) from Wong Shek Pier. If you want to camp overnight at Tai Long Wan, two days allows for a slower pace, with time for swimming and sunset drinks at a beachside stall.
