This serene city in Shandong province draws pilgrims and travellers alike to its ancient temples, sprawling cemeteries, and the grand Confucius Mansion. Walking through its timeworn alleys, you'll feel the weight of 2,500 years of history, where every stone seems to echo the teachings of the great sage.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a full day exploring Qufu's three main sites: the Temple, Mansion, and Cemetery. Start at the Temple early to beat the crowds, then walk to the Mansion next door. After lunch, hire a bike or taxi to the Cemetery, which is a few kilometres north. If you have extra time, a second morning allows for a relaxed stroll around the city walls and a visit to Yan Temple.
