Mount Apo, the Philippines' highest peak at 2,954 metres, is a dormant stratovolcano that draws trekkers and nature lovers to its misty forests, sulphur vents, and crater lake. Located on the island of Mindanao, it's a challenging yet rewarding climb through diverse ecosystems, from lowland rainforest to mossy cloud forest. The mountain is also a sacred site for indigenous Manobo and Bagobo communities, and its slopes are home to the endangered Philippine eagle.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most treks to the summit and back take 3–5 days, depending on the trail and pace. A typical itinerary includes two days up, a summit day, and two days down. For a more relaxed experience, add an extra day to explore Lake Venado or the surrounding forests. Acclimatisation is key, so avoid rushing.
